Tuscia, and the area around Lake Bolsena, is a land of great historical and natural riches, where the borders and traditions of Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany mix. Here the "carrareccia", or cart track, has always been the best road, where the farmer's cart passed, towed by horses or oxen! This is a hilly area, challenging to ride, but never monotonous with its continuous ups and downs. The area has a rich natural environment, archaeology and history, and has managed to preserve over time its authenticity linked to a strong peasant tradition with “homemade” flavors. The caldera of Lake Bolsena is surrounded by a crown of wooded hills, around which the 2 routes wind, one for each "leg". All participants depart from, and arrive in Montefiascone, folloing the lakeside paths, before arriving in Bolsena. And then the choice of legs. The "long" route for a passage through history crossing Orvieto and continuing, among the vineyards of Canale, on the road that climbs to Lubriano to meet another pearl of the Umbrian-Lazio territory: Civita di Bagnoregio the dying city. "Short" so as not to leave the lake and meet again in Montefiascone. for the unmissable tasts of "coregone", the whitefish of the lake that has become a local specialty. Once you have finished, you will have memories not only of pedallling and effort, but the irresistible, delicate and intact beauty of this territory visited on an old bicycle, simple and genuine, savored while humming the hymn of "La Carrareccia".
