Wörthersee Marathon

Discover one of Europe’s most beautiful lakeside running experiences with the Wörthersee Marathon, set around the turquoise waters of Lake Wörthersee in the heart of Austria.

Starting from the iconic Klagenfurt lido in Klagenfurt, this World Athletics–recognized event offers runners a unique opportunity to circumnavigate one of the most scenic lakes in Europe. The full marathon completes a stunning loop around Lake Wörthersee, combining rolling hills along the southern shore with faster, flatter sections for a varied and engaging race experience.

The half marathon follows the breathtaking Süduferstrasse towards Velden, finishing at the elegant Schlosshotel Velden, one of the lake’s most iconic landmarks. Along the route, runners are rewarded with constant lake views, alpine backdrops, and a vibrant race atmosphere.

Designed for all levels, the event also welcomes walkers who wish to complete the lake at their own pace, making it an inclusive celebration of endurance and outdoor enjoyment.

On-course cheering zones, refreshment stations, medical support, and a lively post-race atmosphere at the Runner’s Beach Club create a festival-like experience from start to finish. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal celebrating their journey around the lake.
