Ultra Trail Barcelona
09/05/2027
Ultra Trail Barcelona is one of the most authentic and demanding trail running experiences in Catalonia, set in the rugged landscapes of Sant Fruitós de Bages, in the heart of the Barcelona province. This is not just a race—it’s a full immersion into raw nature, history, and endurance terrain designed for runners who want real elevation, real challenge, and real adventure.
The event offers five different race formats over a late-spring weekend, ranging from a 6 km hike to a demanding 61 km ultra-distance trail. Between the massifs of Caselles and Vintró, every route delivers constant variation, with elevation gains between 200 mD+ and 600 mD+, making this a true “leg-breaking” mountain experience.
The courses feel like an adventure film set, guiding runners through castles, ancient churches, hermitages, and historic stone structures that reflect centuries of rural Catalan heritage. Along the way, athletes pass natural highlights such as the Llobregat River, the Els Tres Salts waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints like Collet de Cantagalls. The terrain constantly shifts between forest trails, dry riverbeds, and open ridgelines with sweeping views.
Ultra Trail Barcelona is also a certified sustainable event with a strong environmental commitment (Biosphere label), ensuring minimal impact on the natural surroundings. No disposable cups are used, and participants are encouraged to race with personal hydration systems, reinforcing a strong eco-responsible philosophy.
Team spirit is a key part of the experience, with team formats of 2, 3, or 4 runners where participants start and finish together—true to the event’s community-driven spirit.
After the race, athletes can relax in Sant Fruitós de Bages, visit the historic Sant Benet de Bages Monastery, or explore the surrounding vineyards and wine heritage of the region.
Ultra Trail Barcelona is raw, technical, cultural, and unforgettable—a true endurance playground just outside Barcelona.
