Pula Marathon

Experience one of the most extraordinary running events in Europe with the Pula Marathon, a unique race that brings athletes inside one of the world’s best-preserved Roman amphitheatres.
Set in the historic coastal city of Pula, this event offers a rare opportunity to start in front of the iconic Arena and finish directly inside it — creating a truly unforgettable race-day experience where ancient history meets modern endurance sport.
The event features multiple distances, including the marathon, half marathon, 5K, and the fun Pula Xica race. All races take place in a vibrant atmosphere, with a special night-time schedule and an entertainment program inside the Arena that transforms the city into a festival of sport and culture.
The half marathon starts at 20:00 in front of the Arena and leads runners through a carefully designed urban course that showcases Pula’s coastline, historic streets, and residential districts. The route includes key city landmarks, long straight sections for rhythm, and strategic turns that keep the race dynamic and engaging. The two-lap structure ensures a challenging yet accessible course for all participants.
What makes this race truly unique is its finale: runners return to the Arena before descending and climbing back up for the final approach, finishing inside the ancient amphitheatre — surrounded by stone walls that have stood for nearly two thousand years.
The Pula Marathon is more than a race — it is a journey through time, where every step connects sport, history, and atmosphere in one of the Mediterranean’s most iconic settings.
