Engadin Skimarathon

The Engadin Ski Marathon is the largest cross-country ski race in Switzerland and one of the most famous endurance skiing events in the world. Each year, more than 12,000 skiers take on the legendary 42 km course from Maloja to S-chanf in the breathtaking Engadin Valley.

This iconic route follows perfectly prepared trails through frozen lakes, wide alpine valleys, and spectacular mountain scenery. The race combines endurance, technique, and pure alpine atmosphere, making it a must-do event for cross-country skiing enthusiasts.

One of the most famous sections runs through the Staz forest, where spectators create a lively and unforgettable atmosphere. It’s also known for its challenging conditions, where many participants experience their first fall—adding to the race’s legendary character.

As soon as the snow conditions allow, the marathon trail is open and professionally maintained, allowing both competitive athletes and recreational skiers to enjoy the course in ideal snow conditions. With sunshine, crisp air, and the famous Maloja wind often pushing athletes forward, the 42 km can feel surprisingly fast despite its challenge.
