Piemontgravel
Vom 15.04.2027 bis 18.04.2027
Bikepacking trail through the north-west of Italy
From 15 to 18 April 2027, Piemontgravel returns. Now in its seventh edition, it is one of the leading gravel and bikepacking events in Italy. Every year, this event attracts hundreds of cyclists from all over Europe to explore Piedmont through a bicycle touring experience.
Four routes of 111, 222, 333, and 444 km, starting and finishing in Bra (CN), cross some of the region’s most distinctive areas: from the Roero hills to the UNESCO vineyards of the Langhe and Monferrato, all the way to Turin and the first Alpine valleys. It is a succession of gravel roads, trails, single-tracks, and secondary roads, amidst natural landscapes, historic villages, and food and wine traditions.
Piemontgravel is not a race: there are no rankings and no times to beat. Every participant tackles the route autonomously, choosing their own pace and organising their stages according to their own needs. It is an event that unites sport, exploration, and discovery of the territory, keeping the joy of cycling at its heart.
4 Routes The routes wind across varied types of terrain. For this reason, a gravel bike is ideal, but a mountain bike can also be suitable given the high percentage of unpaved roads and trails, including single-tracks.
For 2027, the four routes have been updated and refined with the aim of guaranteeing the best possible bikepacking experience, while maintaining a similar structure and flow to the previous edition. The routes are designed to offer participants a ride that is as pleasant and engaging as possible, yet fun and at times technical: you will ride along gravel roads, trails, single-tracks, and short stretches of secondary tarmac roads, always framed by the Alpine arc.
111 | 111km +1700D | The ideal route to experience gravel over one or two days. From the woods and the striking Rocche del Roero, you reach the Langhe vineyards, passing through iconic villages such as Pollenzo, La Morra, Grinzane Cavour, Monforte, Barolo, and Alba. A scenic, intense, yet accessible itinerary.
222 | 222km +3000D | A journey to discover Piedmont's most iconic landscapes, from the sandy trails of the Roero to the Monferrato hills, reaching the Langhe vineyards and the panoramas of the Alta Langa. It crosses characteristic villages such as San Damiano d’Asti, Barbaresco, Serravalle Langhe, and Barolo, alternating long dirt roads, woods, and scenic routes.
333 | 333km +4500D | A grand loop through the Roero, the city of Turin, Monferrato, the Langhe, and the Alta Langa. You reach the heart of Turin along the Po cycle paths, then tackle the scenic climb to the Colle della Maddalena. The journey continues through the hills of Monferrato, Asti, and Alba, before crossing the villages and ridges of the Alta Langa and the Langa del Barolo.
444 | 444km +5500D | The ultimate Piemontgravel challenge: a grand journey through the royal residences of Stupinigi, Rivoli, and Venaria, the woodland trails towards Lanzo, and the picturesque Ponte del Diavolo. It reaches Turin along the Po cycle paths and tackles the Colle della Maddalena, before continuing through the Monferrato hills, the Langhe, and the wild Alta Langa. A demanding itinerary, rich in history, nature, and panoramic views.
Starts and Finishes Piemontgravel 2027 does not feature mass starts or set departure times. The start will be "alla francese" (a rolling start): each participant can begin their adventure completely autonomously, choosing their day and time based on the route, their own pace, and their travel strategy.
